%X The great challenge of the world population is the environmental conservation, because the permanent preservation areas have vital paper inside of a watershed, for they be responsible for the maintenance, preservation and conservation of the existent ecosystems. The permanent protection areas were created for us to protect the natural atmosphere, should always be covered with the original vegetation, because the vegetable covering lessens the erosive effects and the leaching of the soils, also contributing to regular of the flow hidric, reduction of the silting of the courses of water and reservoirs, bringing direct benefits for the fauna. This work had as objectives to evaluate the conflicts of use of the soil in permanent preservation areas (PPA) of the Stream Pouso Alegre watershed - Jaú (SP) through the use of Geographical Information system and of vertical aerial photographs, in 1:30000 scale. The study area locates among the coordinates UTM 764942; 7546214 and 741816; 7534759, presenting an area of 14699,7ha. The results allowed to verify that the geoprocessing techniques were of fundamental importance in the identification of the areas of soil use, of APPs and of conflicts between use and APPs, where small part of the areas of APPs is conflicting (80,15%), because of the point of view of environmental sustainability, it can be inferred that the watershed is very favorable, once it presents 51,31% of area used inadequately with sugar cane.
